Dipsy Dip Gel Polish Instructions
What Do I Need To Get Started?
To apply a Dipsy Dip Gel Polish manicure, you will need to have the following items. Please note that some of the items are technically optional, but strongly recommended.
- Dipsy Dip Gel Polish Base Coat, Gel Color and No-Wipe Top Coat: These three liquids are the core of your manicure. Base Coat helps the Gel Polish bond to your nail, ensuring your gel mani lasts as long as possible. The Gel Color looks similar to nail polish - it's what will give your mani the color you desire. Finally, the No-Wipe Top Coat protects your mani and gives it an amazing shine!
- UV or LED Curing Lamp (not pictured): Gel polish manicures are dried or cured under a UV or LED light. Dipsy Dip does not sell these lights, however they are available on Amazon and from a number of other retailers.
- Cuticle Pusher: A cuticle pusher or orange stick will be used to push your cuticles back and remove any dead skin from the nail bed before applying.
- Nail File: You'll need a good nail file to help you shape your nails before and during your manicure application.
- Buffer: A buffer will help you prepare your nail for the Base Coat by smoothing out the natural nail.
- Rubbing Alcohol: You'll need rubbing alcohol to clean your nail of any dirt, grease or oil.
- Primer: Dipsy Dip Primer is perfectly suited for priming your nails before applying gels. This will help remove any left over dirt or oils from your natural nails.
- Cuticle Oil: Moisturizing your cuticles is essential to maintaining good cuticle and nail health.
Preparation
- Trim and shape your nails to the length and shape that you want.
- Use a cuticle pusher to push your cuticles back and remove any dead skin or invisible cuticle from the nail bed.
- Lightly buffing your nails will help the ensure the nail bed is smooth and improve the bond with the gel.
- Clean your nail with rubbing alcohol or cleaner. Your nails must be completely free of any dirt, grease or oil before proceeding. Applying Dipsy Dip Primer after this can help the gel adhere better to the nail bed.
Application
- Apply a thin, even coat of Dipsy Dip Gel Base Coat to the prepared nail bed, then cure the base coat for 60 seconds (lower power lights may require up to 2 minutes) under a UV or LED light. Be sure to "cap" your ends (cover the exposed edge of the nail with base coat) to prevent lifting and chipping. Please note: base coat will remain tacky after curing. This helps the gel polish adhere to the base.
- Select the gel polish color you desire and roll the bottle between your palms to mix thoroughly. Do not shake the bottle, as that will cause bubbles to form in the gel. Then apply a thin coat of polish, covering the entire nail bed. If you get any gel on your skin, be sure to wipe it off before curing. Cure the gel polish under a UV or LED light for 60 seconds (lower power lights may require up to 2 minutes). Repeat this step at least two more times to get the color even and streak-free.
- Apply Dipsy Dip No-Wipe Top Coat to the entire nail bed, being sure to cap the edges. Cure the top coat under a UV or LED light for one to two minutes.
Curing times may vary depending on the type and wattage of your light.

Removal
- To remove your gel manicure, start by using a nail file to file off the top coat shine. Then soak off with 100% acetone.
- Do not pick at or attempt to pry off your gel manicure, as this can cause damage to the nail bed.
Aftercare
- Aftercare of your gel manicure is an important part of keeping your hands and nails looking healthy and beautiful. Hydrate your nails between manicures with cuticle oil and use cuticle oil on your cuticles regularly while wearing your gels.
- Do not attempt to file, clip or shape your nail after the gel polish is applied and cured, as this may cause your manicure to chip or lift prematurely.
Cautions:
- Store Dipsy Dip Gel products in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight.
- Keep out of the reach of children.
- Ensure good ventilation when working with Dipsy Dip Gel products.
Allergies and Sensitivities:
- As with any product, you may have or may develop allergies or sensitivities to Dipsy Dip Gel Polish. If you notice any skin sensitivity/discomfort or experience any respiratory symptoms, remove the gel polish right away and discontinue use. Seek medical care immediately if symptoms are severe. Because most gel polishes use similar ingredients, if you have experienced allergic reactions or sensitivities to other gel polish brands, we do not recommend using Dipsy Dip products.
- Some users may experience a warming or burning sensation while the gel is curing. This experience can be caused or worsened by applying the gel polish in thick layers, by attempting to cure more than one layer at a time or by using a curing light that is too strong, which causes the nails to cure too quickly. Over-filing of the nail during prep or removal can also cause the burning sensation to be stronger.
- If you experience discomfort while curing, remove your hands from under the light for few moments to slow the curing process. If the discomfort continues, you may wish to carefully remove the gel manicure.
